Toughie No 1334 by Micawber

Infamy, infamy!

+ – + – + – + – + – + – + – +

BD Rating – Difficulty **Enjoyment *****

I always get a warm feeling from a Micawber crossword (very handy this morning when it’s blowing a gale outside) and, luckily for me, they very often appear on Wednesdays. This one is very much at the easier end of his spectrum but as enjoyable as ever.… Read More

Psst... don't tell the boss, but for the most part I thought this was a lovely puzzle from Excalibur. I like her short clues with their vivid surface readings and imagery, and had fun figuring out the wordplay.

Just checking that you've all booked tickets for Saturday...… Read More

A very good puzzle that gave the brain plenty of exercise. The last ones in were 9 across and 6 down which added a few minutes to my time

Toughie No 1330 by Elkamere

A Gaggle of Old Comedians

+ – + – + – + – + – + – + – +

BD Rating – Difficulty ****Enjoyment ****

Elkamere has given us a proper Toughie today packed with his usual sneakiness. I really enjoyed it but I wonder whether the inclusion of two comedy acts from about 25 years ago (who weren’t that well-known even in the UK) was really fair for expats and non-Brits solving the puzzle on the DT Puzzles website.… Read More

BD Rating - Difficulty *** - Enjoyment ***

I made steady progress through this puzzle, which contained some trickier clues along with the more gentle ones I think of as typical of Warbler. A pleasant solve - thanks Warbler.

BD Rating – Difficulty ***Enjoyment ***

A pleasant solve which just about earned the third star for difficulty. The last one in was 4 across where the unchecked letters (_E_E_A_E) were not very kind to the solver. Has MynoT given up thematic puzzles or have I missed something?

Toughie No 1326 by Beam

The Die is Cast

+ – + – + – + – + – + – + – +

BD Rating – Difficulty ***Enjoyment ****

After a couple of flirtations with a single anagram Beam has given himself a good talking to, pulled himself together and returned to austerity with his latest Toughie. All the usual Beam characteristics are there including a spot of innuendo at 9a. I enjoyed unravelling the wordplay.… Read More
